No Doubt Tour News

I am so excited, I can’t wait to see this concert, it’s gonna kick ass!!
From Buzznet

This morning I got the opportunity to talk to No Doubt’s guitarist Tom Dumont about their upcoming tour, picking Paramore as a tour mate and the direction their new material is headed, and most importantly the fact that the tour will be modeled after A Clockwork Orange, which he revealed exclusively to Buzznet today. I write this calmly but in truth, I barely slept last night, I was so excited.

Fans of the band know that this tour will be jam-packed full of their favorites—No Doubt did a survey on their official site a few months ago to see which tracks people wanted to hear most—but without an album, how will the tour look?

Tom had an answer.

“You know, it’s kinda funny, whenever we do an album or a tour we’ve noticed that if we have a really strong theme that everything falls into place better. Gwen came up with the Clockwork Orange thing—she started getting into the visuals of those modernist movies from the 60’s. We’ve been looking at tons of art and it’s like this space-age modernism from that decade—it’s retro and modern at the same time, so we’re building this crazy stage set that has that vibe. We have a bunch of really great artists doing t-shirts and posters that echo that. There’s a whole look for the tour even though there’s not an album yet.”

No Doubt begin their summer tour May 19th, after playing The Bamboozle Festival in Jersey and the Tiger Jam in Las Vegas.

If you need a little head start, the band will be performing a cover of Stand & Deliver on the CW’s Gossip Girl, airing May 11th.

“We tape it next week. It’s kind of a crazy thing. We were trying to find out ways—because we’re not releasing an album—to raise awareness for the tour. When that opportunity came up, we were like ‘Well, the last song we put out was a cover from the 80’s, so we don’t really want to go there, but at the same time it just seemed like fun.”

Dumont said they finished pre-recording the Adam and The Ants song last night. It will not be released on an album, or as a single, but top-tier ticket buyers who get the No Doubt catalog download package will be getting that track as well.

Full interview with some commentary about Paramore and new material will be up next week!

No Doubt sticks it to ticketmaster

Late last month I managed to secure tickets to one of No Doubts summer concerts. I KNEW how lucky I was to even get a chance, let alone BUY the tickets!!! here is what they say in response to the event.  Recently reunited No Doubt are taking a note from The Boss and are attempting to cut out ripoff-extraordinaires Ticketmaster from their tour!

Tickets went on sale for the band’s upcoming tour last Saturday, but the group gifted fan club members with first dibs on the best seats in the house!

No Doubt were granted 10% of the tickets for each show and sold them directly through their website, completely bypassing Ticketmaster’s outrageous service charges.
“The impetus is to have people who want to be in the building to be the people buying the tickets — not speculators,” Jim Guerinot, No Doubt’s manager, tells reporters. “We’ve done it before and it works.”

Fan club members were required to pay a $15 dollar fee, but with the charge came access to the band’s entire digital audio catalog as well as stickers, magnets, and iron-ons promoting the new tour!

I hope more bands take notice and stick it to the ticket monopoly!

Depeche Mode 2009 Tour Dates

Depeche Mode has revealed the dates and cities for the North American leg of its “Tour of the Universe.”

The international jaunt, which supports the British synthpop pioneers’ forthcoming album, kicks off in Tel Aviv, Israel, May 10 and treks through European stadiums into mid-July. The outing descends upon North America shortly thereafter, starting July 24-25 in Toronto and Montreal, and then crossing over to the US for an 18-city run of major markets, including a two-night stand in Los Angeles. The schedule, minus yet-to-be-announced venues, is included below. Tickets for select markets go on sale beginning March 13.

Depeche Mode’s 12th studio effort, “Sounds of the Universe,” is due in the US April 21. The release marks a reunion between the band and producer Ben Hillier (Blur, Doves), who helped the members conjure up the album’s retro-futuristic sound. The lead single, “Wrong,” will hit the radio following its world premiere at tomorrow’s (2/21) Echo Awards in Germany.

In addition to a standard CD format, “Sounds of the Universe” will be offered up as a double-vinyl LP, a special-edition CD/DVD and a deluxe box set with a host of exclusive material. The DVD will feature a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of the album, a band interview with archive footage and live recordings from the studio, among other things.

As with Depeche Mode’s latest studio set, 2005’s “Playing The Angel,” the new material gives writing credit to both Martin Gore, the group’s primary songwriter, and frontman Dave Gahan, who, after honing his talents on two solo albums, has earned his place as the band’s second writer.

All of Depeche Mode’s 11 studio albums have reached the Top 10 in 20-plus countries around the world, including the US, according to a press release. All together, the band has sold more than 75 million units worldwide.

Song of the Month…

Love Alive ~ Heart
When I raised my head
I stood at the window -
Darkness was my bane

Suddenly a sunbeam arch
Thrilled me to my weary heart
It was the prettiest thing I’d ever seen

I knew I had to keep my Love
Keep my Love alive
Keep my Love – Keep my Love live

Baby I want you to roll me
Hold me in your love
No more habits, promises and jive
Ever since I was a baby girl
Wanted one thing most in this world
It was to Keep My Love -
Keep My Love alive

I want to keep my Love -
Keep my Love alive
Keep my Love – keep my love alive

You’re up there under the spotlight
Your silver trophy shines
With all you got, my lord!
You must get high
You need a whole lot more than money
You need more than to survive
You need to keep your Love
Keep your Love alive.
